Paul Rabil's Holiday Magic Gala

The Paul Rabil Foundation‘s Holiday Magic event brings friends and family together to celebrate the holiday season, and the roots of our foundation’s mission. At the PRF, we have set out to build opportunity for the youth, specifically those with learning differences, through the avenue of sports. In 2014, we will use the proceeds from this year’s event to distribute 12 micro grant scholarships to children in need to attend the Lab School in Washington DC & Baltimore, and the Jemicy School in Baltimore. Let’s celebrate the beauty of the holiday season, and watch our contribution directly affect the future of our children.

Skepticism fills our minds as we pulled up to “American Recycling” in Jamaica, Queens. It’s raining, the road turns from pavement to a bumpy dirt and gravel path leading to the back of what looks like an abandoned warehouse. Getting out of the car we were somewhat nervous on what we might be walking into, to top it all off our GPS has gone haywire and we are officially lost, or so we think. We look at each other questionably, without words, our expressions speak for themselves … this cannot be right, this is not exactly the ideal location for a photo shoot.

Is November the longest month ever or does it just seem that way because of the growing number of awkward looks I’m getting walking around with this ridiculous mustache on my face? Oh well, all for a great cause. And, for better or worse I did get the ultimate compliment/insult from a good friend of mine the other day: “The stache plays…”

If you’re not on board with the campaign yet, there’s still time. Donations are nearing $60,000 for this year’s Lacrosse Mustache Madness campaign, which benefits the HEADstrong campaign. That’s more than halfway to the goal of $100,000, and the event ends Nov. 30. You can jump in now and start raising money on your own, and/or donate to the cause directly. More information is here at FirstGiving.com. And here’s HEADstrong’s update from last week.
