GREENVILLE, S.C. – Senior Cody Ferraro, junior Patrick Corbett and sophomore Reid Weber paced the offense with hat tricks while the defense held Furman to just 15 shots as the No. 17/19 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team opened the 2014 season with a 13-6 win on Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks broke a 2-2 tie with a 4-1 second quarter on their way to a fifth straight season opening victory.

2013 Record: 8-5 (3-3 in Ivy League)

Coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011, Penn stumbled the next year to a 3-10 record. In the offseason coach Mike Murphy decided it was time to change the team’s style and be more aggressive. “I just made a decision that we were going to play faster and get up and down,” Murphy said. The team finished the 2013 season tied with Delaware in scoring (9.00 GPG, T-43rd) while having the best scoring defense in DI (7.38 GAA). With returners at both ends, Penn will look to hold the line on D while becoming more potent on O.
